Hi! My name is Susan Swanson and I'm the Senior Copywriter at Discount School Supply® here in Monterey, CA. I love my job because I get to write about all of the terrific products that we sell. Since March is National Nutrition Month, I'd like to tell you about a few products that will help you teach children about good nutrition. One of my favorites is our exclusive Nutrition Kit.
This expansive kit has everything you need for nutrition-themed, hands-on learning. This incredible, comprehensive kit includes: magnetic healthy place set, counting cans, multicultural food puzzles, life-sized fruits and vegetables, stampers and stamp pad, Take Care of Yourself book set which covers the benefits of exercise, caring for your teeth, eating well, the importance of rest and being safe in the sun. Also included are Eating the Alphabet big book and felt story set and a teacher's activity guide with countless ideas for how to use the kit.
Another product that I love for teaching about nutrition is the Excellerations® My Healthy Plate Magnet Activity Set.
This set follows the USDA nutritional guidelines, teaching them in a variety of fun ways. The set includes a two-sided table chart with a divided plate on one side where kids can fill their plates with healthy food, and a food chart on the other side. Also included are four placemats and 48 foam magnets depicting a variety of foods. Plus, it's labeled in both English and Spanish.
It's important to make eating, whether at home or at school, a fun and relaxed activity. You can encourage children to eat vegetables and fruits by making mealtimes more pleasurable. Try providing healthy ingredients and let children help with preparation, based on their ages and skills. Kids may try foods they avoided in the past if they help make them.
Thanks for reading this blog entry. I hope you'll take a good look at the products I wrote about. Happy National Nutrition Month!
