Creating a one-of-a-kind painting is easy for any age group using masking tape!
What You’ll Need:
- Cardboard or canvas to use as the substrate
- Masking tape
- Washable tempera or acrylic paint
Step 1 – Make a tape design
Have children place tape on the substrate.
*Tips for Parents: Kids love playing with tape. Smaller children may need you to pre-cut pieces and show them how to place it sticky-side down. Older children can make designs with the tape, such as letters or symbols.
Step 2 – Paint
*Tips for Parents: Put on some music and paint to the music. Encourage the child to use different colors and cover the entire substrate.
Step 3 – Peel off the tape
Pull the masking tape off, revealing the lines and shapes below.
*Tips for Parents: You may do this step while the paint is wet or wait until it’s dry. It might be less messy to do with younger children if you wait until it’s dry.
