Artsy Parenting! Activity Hour: Wooden Block Stamping!

Kids love to stamp. They get instant results, and it’s a great way to develop their fine and gross motor skills

What You’ll Need:

Step 1 – Prepare the stampers

Wrap rubber bands around wooden blocks in criss-cross fashion to make the stampers.

*Tips for Parents: Kids love rubber bands. Let your kids get in on this prep step. Use different sizes and shapes of blocks, and have kids name the shapes as they work with them.

Step 2 – Prepare the paint

If you’re using stamp pads, you’ll need big ones. If you’re using paint, squirt a good amount onto a paper plate.

*Tips for Parents: Name the colors as you squirt the paint onto the plates.

Step 3 – Stamp away!

Show your child how to dip the stamper in the paint and then place it on the art paper.

*Tips for Parents: Encourage your kids to dip different sides of the blocks into the paint to make different effects. Use the circular end of a toilet paper tube to add dimension and shape to the artwork.
