Sunflowers

sunflowers This is a fun activity that kids seem to love and parents think it’s a great decoration!

Goals:

  • To develop creativity
  • To develop fine motor skills

Before You Start: Get some yellow construction paper and cut four large petals from each sheet, making the base of each about three inches wide. You will also need brown and black paint, glitter and a pack of paper plates (one plate for each child).

Let's Get Started! Step 1. Have kids dot paint in the middle of the paper plate to create the center of a sunflower.

Step 2. While still wet, have them sprinkle the plate with the glitter.

Step 3. When mostly dry, glue the large petals around the middle of the paper plate, not around the outside edge. (This makes the flower more resilient.)

Furthermore: You can actually make this a two-day project, doing the painting and glitter one day and letting it dry overnight and doing the petal part the next day. You’ll have beautiful sunflowers to decorate your room, each measuring about 16 inches wide.
