3dselfportraits Hang on a wall for a 3-D abstract self portrait exhibit!

  • To encourage creative self expression and self esteem
  • To develop fine motor skills

Before You Start: Gather materials needed for the activity: BioColor® paint, bingo bottles, white sulfite paper, scissors and a stapler. The teacher may want to pre-fill the bingo bottles with BioColor® paint beforehand.

Let's Get Started! Step 1. Create a self-portrait on paper using Bingo Bottles filled with BioColor®.

Step 2. Make a monoprint of each finished portrait by placing a clean sheet of paper on top and rubbing.

Step 3. To create the 3-D effect cut out the oval face from your monoprint, then cut a 2” dart on the top and bottom, overlap dart and staple to secure.

Step 4. Adhere 3-D face to original portrait with staple or tape.

Furthermore: Have the children share their portraits with their classmates in small groups.
